The Student Advice Service needs this information so that we can provide you with accurate information in relation to your enquiry, and/or advice on money or immigration.
Once you submit this form, the Student Advice Service will contact you in response to your enquiry, request more information, arrange an appointment or refer you to another service relevant to your needs. With your explicit consent, we may also contact you at other points in the academic year to provide useful information in relation to money or immigration.
We will store the information you provide in this form and in future discussions (and the information and advice that we provide to you) confidentially within the Student Advice Service’s casework database. This is separate system from your core student record. There may also be other places where we store this temporarily; see section on Storage.
We will not share any information that you provide (or any information and advice that we provide to you) with anyone outside of the Student Advice Service without asking you for explicit permission first, unless the situation falls within the exceptions shown in the Confidentiality section.
The information you provide (and any information and advice that we provide to you) will be destroyed 6 years after your last recorded encounter with the Student Advice Service.

6(1)(b) - Processing is necessary for the performance of a contract with the data subject or to take steps to enter into a contract, in all cases. 6(1)(c) - Processing is necessary for compliance with a legal obligation, in the case of immigration advice (regulated by the Office of the Immigration Services Commissioner) or debt advice (regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority)

Interaction between students and the Student Advice Service is confidential. Disclosure to a third party will only be considered when: • Consent has been given to disclose information; or • There is a risk to students’ welfare or the welfare of others; or • By legal requirement.
The Student Advice Service is regulated by the OISC (Office of the Immigration Services Commissioner) for immigration advice, and the FCA (Financial Conduct Authority) for debt advice. You can find out more about this on the Student Services web page.
The Student Advice Service may use the information that you provide to send you information that may be useful to your circumstances, later in your studies. For example, if you tell us that you receive Student Finance, we may send an email to you to remind you to reapply for the following academic year. We only do this with your explicit consent.
