UAL’s Black Creatives Hub is partnering with not just a shop to offer students and recent graduates (of up to 3 years) an exciting opportunity to have their illustration designs featured in the first ever UAL Black Creatives adult colouring book. The book will be sold online and in-store at not just a shop from October 2026, marking the beginning of Black History Month.

Production of the Colouring Book will be managed by UAL’s Creative team. The successful applicants will communicate directly with the Black Creatives Hub team and UAL’s Creative team via email to provide Illustrator, EPS or Tiff files.
Copyright of the design(s) will remain with the creator, while UAL will have an exclusive license to reproduce it for the certain period. This means that the design should not be sold elsewhere through other retailers.

The competition is run by University of the Arts London of 272 High Holborn, London WC1V 7EY (“UAL”).
The competition is open to current students (including international students) and recent UAL graduates (up to 3 years), from all UAL Colleges and courses, who identify as Black or mixed Black heritage.
The competition is an opportunity for entrants to have their illustration designs (“Designs”) featured in the first ever UAL Black Creatives adult colouring book (“Colouring Book”) The intention is for the Colouring Book to be sold online and in-store at UAL’s not just a shop from October 2026, marking the beginning of Black History Month.
By entering the competition, entrants will be deemed to be bound by and have accepted these terms and conditions. Agreement to these terms and conditions is given for the benefit for UAL and UAL shall have the right to enforce these terms and conditions. Failure to comply with these terms and conditions will give UAL the right to disqualify any entries.
The competition will run from 22 May 2026 to 19 June 2026 inclusive.
Designs should be commercially viable and may be required to be adapted to increase suitability (as reasonably agreed between UAL and the entrant).
Entrants can submit more than one (1) Design.
Entrants must submit Designs individually and not as part of a team.
Designs must be submitted as a high-resolution digital image.
The winner(s) will need to supply their Design(s) to UAL as an Illustrator, EPS or Tiff file and provide a short designer biography.
The winner(s) will receive a cash prize of one hundred pounds (£100) per selected Design and two (2) copies of the Colouring Book (the “Prize”).
Please allow thirty (30) days for payment of the monetary element of the Prize. The Prize may not be claimed by a third party on behalf of the winner(s).
UAL does not claim ownership of any intellectual property rights in any entries.
The winner(s) hereby grants UAL an exclusive, worldwide, irrevocable, royalty-free licence to use, reproduce, display, publish and disseminate all or part of their Design(s) in print and digital form, for the purpose of producing ninety (90) printed units of the Colouring Book. If UAL wishes to produce a further run of the Colouring Book, UAL will contact the winner(s) to discuss an additional fee. The exclusivity referred to in this paragraph will end on the completion of the sale of all ninety (90) units of the Colouring Book after which point the winner(s) will be free to use the Design(s) elsewhere.
The winner(s) acknowledges that their Design(s) will be also used across UAL marketing and advertising materials to promote UAL’s not just a shop and future competitions. A credit will be given for any images used.
Entrants warrant that: (i) their entry is all their original work; (ii) they have not copied, in whole or in part, any third party work; and (iii) they have not granted any licence in relation to their entry other than set out above.

UAL reserves all rights to disqualify any entrants if their conduct is contrary to the spirit or intention of the competition.
